       PROCEEDINGS OF THE ASSUMPTION PARISH SCHOOL BOARD

The Assumption Parish School Board met in Regular Session on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at 6:00 p.m. at Labadieville Primary School, Belle Rose, LA with President, Doris Dugas, presiding.

 

PRESENT:   Honoray Lewis, Ward 1, Lee Meyer, Ward 2, Andrea Barras, Ward 3, Larry Howell, Ward 5, Daniel Washington, Ward 6, John Beck, Ward 7, Doris Dugas, Ward 9

 

ABSENT: Electa Fletcher Mickens, Ward 4, Jessica Ourso, Ward 8  

 

The meeting was opened in prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance by students. 

 

Adoption of Agenda

On motion of Mr. Howell, seconded by Mr. Washington and unanimously carried the Board adopted the agenda as amended.

   

Consent Agenda

a) Approve minutes of  March 2, 2016 board meeting

b) Approve addendum items

 

On motion of Mr. Beck, seconded by Mr. Meyer unanimously carried the Board adopted the consent agenda.

 

Facilities and Grounds

a) On motion of Mr. Howell, seconded by Mr. Washington and unanimously carried the Board approved Change Order No. 1 in the amount of $3,500.00 for the Napoleonville Primary School driveway project.

b) On motion of Mr. Lewis, seconded by Mr. Howell and unanimously carried the Board approved the Certificate of Substantial Completion for the Napoleonville Primary School driveway project.

Electa Fletcher Mickens entered the meeting at 6:04 pm.

Policy and Procedure

a) The Board received a proposed organizational chart for the 2016-2017 school year.

b) On motion of Ms. Barras, seconded by Mr. Howell and unanimously carried the Board approved the 2016-2017 school year calendar.

Budget

a) The Board received the February 2016 Sales Tax Report.  Total returns processed are 1482; 933 monthly, 39 quarterly, 492 irregular, and 18 semi-annuals.  Total number of online filers are 931.  Total receipts of the February, 2016 collections are $701,980.13; a -19% decrease of ($160,497.37).  The school board received $350,989.38;-19% decrease of ($80,248.34).  The 92 Bond Issue Fund received $70,198.46, a -19% decrease of ($16,049.69).  The delinquent rate for the month of February, 2016 is 7%.  Industries experiencing a decrease are Food, Automotive, Equipment, Contractor, Manufacturer, Utilities, Miscellaneous, and Unclassified.  Audit revenues for the month February, 2016 are $3,672.35 comparable to $1,155.76 for February, 2015.  Auto sales for the month of February 2016 are $168,118.90 comparable to $225,106.60 for February 2015.

b) On motion of Mr. Howell, seconded by Mr. Washington and unanimously carried the Board approved the Head Start Grant Application in the amount of $883,450.00 and the Selection Rubric. 

c) The Board received information from Sheriff Bruce Prejean on the cost for crossing guards and school resource officer.
